Whiteman Park’s Aboriginal education programs offer students a unique opportunity to learn about traditional Aboriginal culture through creative, interactive and engaging activities.

Delivered by Aboriginal presenters, these programs focus on different aspects of this rich culture and aim to provide students with an authentic cultural experience which would not be possible in a normal classroom setting.  These programs improve students’ knowledge and encourage a respect for the uniqueness of Aboriginal Noongar culture. This is a unique opportunity to experience Noongar country through the eyes of its people.

Kaya Tarwonga | Years 5 & 6

Welcome! Your students are invited to follow in the footsteps of the local Noongar people to discover the delights of native bush foods, marvel in the wonders of traditional medicines and be immersed in story.

In a unique opportunity to experience Noongar country through the eyes of its people, this fully immersive program takes place at Whiteman Park’s own ‘talking place’, or tarwonga, and features two sessions: ‘Bush Foods and Medicine’, and ‘Hunting and Gathering’
