Education Programs

Education Experiences

Whiteman Park offers three wonderful series of education programs – “The Wheels of Change” for transport heritage, "Kaarda Goanna" for Aboriginal education and “Whiteman Wallaby” for environmental education.

Covering some of the most interesting and significant facets of Whiteman Park - our education programs have been designed to allow students to learn as they play, beyond the classroom.

Our programs have all been directly linked to the Curriculum Framework, and provide opportunities for students to learn, develop and grow in all areas of the Curriculum.

Tree Planting

Available: Mid-Term 2 to Mid-Term 3

Opportunities exist for schools with an interest in the environment to assist with our annual planting program.

Groups can help the revegetation efforts of Whiteman Park’s conservation team with weeding and planting in key areas of the Park.

To be eligible for a tree-planting excursion, carer numbers need to be higher than usual, especially for younger year groups, and buses must be able to transport students to different areas within the Park. Tree-planting is conducted rain, hail or shine.

**Three dates have been set aside for school group planting days for 2010. They are all Wednesdays, as follows: June 30, July 28 and August 18. Please contact the Bookings Officer to make a booking, as they will fill quickly!

Old Fashioned Picnic Day

Remember the ‘olden days’? We do! Bring your students to relive the fun and nostalgia of a good old fashioned picnic day in the beautiful surrounds of Mussel Pool.

Sack and wheelbarrow races, egg and spoon contests, marbles, treasure hunts, skipping and more are available.

We provide teachers with planning assistance and an activity pack full of all the old fashioned game ideas, rules and props that you’ll need to know to create the most talked about excursion this year!

A great intergenerational program idea for the whole school.
